Stalker Cop Banned for Snooping on Ex
Andrew Edwards, a former Chippenham police constable, has been permanently banned from policing after stalking his ex-girlfriend. At a Military Courts hearing in Bulford on 3 December, Edwards admitted to stalking and misconduct in public office. The panel found he repeatedly abused secret police databases to dig up private details about his ex and her friends.
Secret Visits and Social Media Spying Exposed
Edwards didn’t stop at digital spying. He turned up at his ex’s home over 30 times, often using fake stories to gain access, both on and off duty. When blocked on social media, he pressured colleagues to spy on her accounts for him. Even more shocking, he broke bail conditions banning any contact after being arrested.
Quick Justice: Edwards Out and Barred for Life
Edwards was suspended as soon as the allegations came to light but quit before the investigation concluded. The panel confirmed that if he hadn’t resigned, he would have been sacked immediately. Now, he’s on the national barred list — banned from any police role forever.
Iain Gibson, Director of People: “Andrew Edwards repeatedly abused his power, invading his ex-partner’s privacy and breaking the trust placed in police officers. Stalking is a serious offence with lasting harm. Our officers did the right thing by exposing his behaviour. No one is above the law.”
