Ex-Southampton Coach Hit with 65 Child Sex Abuse Charges
A former Southampton FC youth coach faces shocking historic sex abuse allegations. Robert Francis Higgins, once in charge of youth development, has been charged with 65 counts of indecent assault against teenage boys.
Historical Abuse Spanning Two Decades
The charges relate to horrifying offences from the 1980s and 1990s. Police say the abuse targeted 23 teenage boys during Higgins’ time at the club. The 64-year-old will appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 20th July.
Police Call for Public Help
Hampshire Constabulary described the case as part of a wider investigation into historic abuse in football. The force urges anyone with information or concerns to contact the specialist Operation Marmion team on 101.
