Four Burglars Jailed for Shocking Gravesend Home Invasion
Four crooks have been locked up after terrorising a Gravesend family with an imitation gun in a terrifying break-in. Duad Rrapi, Michael Chambers, Satnam Singh, and a 17-year-old teen forced their way into a home in December 2016, threatening to stab the victim’s children unless they handed over cash, jewellery, and valuables.
Bold Break-In Caught on Camera
The gang were captured by CCTV lurking near the victim’s house in Dogwood Close at 10.15pm before returning after midnight to smash a kitchen door and climb inside through a conservatory.
Once inside, Duad Rrapi punched a sleeping victim and, along with the others, forced the family to reveal where their money was kept. The thugs stuffed clothes into the victims’ mouths to silence them and used an imitation gun to strike two family members.
Quick Getaway and Police Hunt
After grabbing cash, gold jewellery, and watches, the burglars tied up three family members and fled in a Honda CRV. The getaway car was later found torched in Marden.
Police tracked the vehicle’s movements via Number Plate Recognition and CCTV at a service station, where the gang refuelled and bought items before the raid.
All Four Crooks Brought to Justice
- Duad Rrapi, 18, no fixed address – 8 years for burglary plus 5 years for a separate offence
- Michael Chambers, 31, no fixed address – 9 years for burglary, plus 7 years for theft offences, with 2 years extended licence
- Satnam Singh, 18, Thornton Heath – 10 years for burglary and 5 years concurrent for possession of an imitation firearm
- 17-year-old Streatham boy – 6 years 8 months for burglary and possessing imitation firearm
All admitted aggravated burglary. Singh and the teen also pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.
‘A Violent and Terrifying Attack’ – Police
Detective Constable Alan Poulton said: “This was a violent and incredibly terrifying burglary that has had a huge impact on the victims. These four offenders have made them feel vulnerable and fearful in their own home – a place where they should feel safe. This was a planned attack and these men pose a very real danger to society.
“Although this type of crime is rare, Kent Police has the resources and expertise to relentlessly pursue offenders involved in organised crime and bring them to justice.”
