Steroid Crime Gang Slapped with Million-Pound Asset Seizures

Four men caught in a massive steroid smuggling racket have been hit with huge confiscation orders, including a jaw-dropping £1.16 million bill for one ringleader – or face more jail time.

Busting a £ Multi-Million Steroid Empire

Jacob Sporon-Fiedler, Nathan Selcon, Gurjaipal Dhillon, and Alexander MacGregor were nailed in 2019 for running a criminal steroid enterprise. Sentences ranged from 17 months to six years behind bars.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) kicked off the probe in 2014 after intercepting steroid shipments to Belfast. The trail led straight to Sporon-Fiedler, Kiwi CEO of Indian firm Alpha Pharma, who masterminded dozens of illegal drug shipments from India into Europe.

MacGregor, based in Maidenhead like Selcon, was handed the heaviest confiscation order at the Old Bailey. The court demanded £1.16 million within three months or he faces an extra seven years inside.

MacGregor’s haul included bank accounts, shares, a Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari 458, Mercedes G Wagon, high-end guns, plus Rolex and Audemars Piguet watches – all seized by the NCA.

Fixers, Labs, and Black Market Deals

  • Selcon sold the illegal steroids to bodybuilders and fitness buffs on the UK black market.
  • Selcon and MacGregor, with Mohammed Afzal from Slough, ran a secret lab converting raw powders into injectable steroid vials.
  • Dhillon, from Southall, helped with importing these banned substances for Sporon-Fiedler.
  • The NCA spotted around 42 tonnes of shipments tied to the gang’s network.

After their convictions, the NCA went after their assets under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). Sporon-Fiedler was ordered to hand over £700,000 and Selcon has paid £3,300. Dhillon was told to cough up £167,000 or risk another five years inside. Afzal’s confiscation hearing is due in February.

Rob Burgess, NCA Regional Head of Investigation said: “These men were part of an organised crime group involved in a multi-million-pound global enterprise to manufacture and supply banned anabolic steroids.

“The confiscation orders obtained so far in this case are the results of painstaking work undertaken by NCA investigators over a period of several years.

“It demonstrates our determination to go after criminal profits and prevent organised criminals from benefiting financially from their criminality.”
