Gravesend Predator Jailed After Attacking Homeless Woman
A ruthless predator who sexually assaulted a homeless woman in Gravesend has been locked up. On Monday 9 September 2024, the victim was sleeping in the doorway of a deserted shop on the High Street when Bebi Ibram struck.
Attack Interrupted by Passing Stranger
Ibram lay beside the woman and removed some of her clothing before assaulting her. The victim woke up screaming, which caused a nearby passer-by to confront the attacker. Terrified, Ibram fled the scene — but he left his shoes behind.
CCTV and DNA Evidence Seal His Fate
Police quickly seized Ibram’s footwear and scanned local CCTV footage. A local officer recognised him on camera, and forensic tests matched his DNA to the shoes left behind. Ibram, 38, from Parrock Street, Gravesend, was arrested on 27 September and charged with sexual assault.
Jail Sentence and Sex Offender Registration
At Woolwich Crown Court, Ibram pleaded guilty. On Tuesday 9 December, he was sentenced to 15 months behind bars, activating two suspended sentences. He must also sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
Detective Constable Chloe Smith said: “Ibram targeted a very vulnerable woman, likely thinking he’d escape justice. Luckily, a man intervened, forcing the coward to run. Swift police work and crucial evidence helped track him down. I want to thank the brave victim for helping bring this vile man to justice.”
