Canterbury Man Busted Over String of Thefts and Fraud

A Canterbury man has been hit with multiple theft and fraud charges after a Kent Police probe.

Joe Scott Charged with Burglaries and Fraud

Joe Scott, 33, from Bingley Court in Canterbury, was arrested on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, following an investigation by Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad.

  • Burglarising a house in St Dunstan’s area between July 19-20, stealing a laptop and bank cards.
  • Five counts of fraud for using stolen bank cards to buy booze, cigarettes, and scratchcards between June 26 and July 20.
  • Theft of hanging baskets stolen from Wincheap on July 16.
  • Three shoplifting offences in Canterbury stores from June 26 to July 20.

Facing Court, Scott Held in Custody

Scott appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 22. He was remanded in custody and is set to face Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, August 22.
