Chilling Kill Threats Missed Before Derbyshire Quadruple Murder

Shocking new details have emerged from the inquest into the quadruple killing that rocked Killamarsh, Derbyshire earlier this year. Damien Bendall, 31, who pleaded guilty to brutally murdering his girlfriend and her three children, made chilling threats to kill them if their relationship “went bad” – yet alarm bells were ignored.

Four Found Dead After Police Called to Killamarsh Home

On September 19, 2021, police arrived at the Killamarsh house to find the bodies of four victims. Bendall immediately confessed, telling officers: “I need the police and an ambulance because I just killed four people.”

Warning Signs Overlooked by Probation and Monitoring Officers

During the inquest at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court, it was revealed that an Electronic Monitoring Service officer had heard Bendall say he would “murder my girlfriend and children” if things went wrong. Shockingly, this was never reported to authorities.

A probation officer, Aisha Fatima, admitted she was unaware of these threats when managing Bendall’s case in June 2021. Bendall was under a 17-month suspended sentence for arson and living with his victims at the time.

“I wouldn’t have allowed Bendall to reside at the address with Terri Harris and her children,”

Fatima confessed, adding she had not properly reviewed Bendall’s extensive history or the majority of his risk assessments – failures that may have cost lives.

Probation Service Overwhelmed, Safety Compromised

The inquest also highlighted the heavy caseloads and strain on probation officers handling dangerous offenders like Bendall. Several officers spoke of being stretched too thin, raising questions about whether the tragedy could have been prevented.

This grim case exposes crucial flaws in offender monitoring that demand urgent reform to protect vulnerable families across the UK.
