Tragic Fire at London Care Home Claims Life
Just yards from Regent’s Park, a fire ripped through Esther Randall Court, an assisted living complex for over-55s, early on Thursday 5 January. The building houses 35 self-contained one-bedroom flats. Fire crews were called out shortly after 7am.
One Dead, Four Rescued from Blaze
Despite heroic efforts from firefighters and paramedics, one person died in hospital following the blaze. Four others were rescued from the burning building, with two taken to hospital. Their conditions remain unknown.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, London’s Air Ambulance, and police swung into action after reports of the fire at Little Albany Street, NW1, came in at 7:25am.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 7.25am on Thursday, 5 January to reports of a fire at Little Albany Street, NW1. Officers, London Fire Brigade, London’s Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service attended. The address is a multi-occupancy care facility. A number of residents were evacuated. Two people were taken to hospital by ambulance. Police say await updates on their conditions. There were no arrests.”
