Paedophile’s Jail Term Upped After Appeal
A man caught in a vile child sex scandal has had his prison sentence increased after a top government lawyer slammed the original punishment as too soft.
Lewis Green’s Sick Exploits
Lewis Green, 20, groomed a child aged between 13 and 15 over social media. He coaxed the victim into sending naked photos and videos, promising cash rewards. When the youngster stopped, Green threatened to show the images to their family.
In another sick twist, Green offered money for indecent photos and videos of an unknown individual’s children.
Shocking Volume of Abusive Material Found
Police discovered Green possessed a staggering 1,662 indecent images and 278 illegal video clips of children.
He was initially sentenced on 4 March 2022 to just 2 years and 2 months at Maidstone Crown Court for multiple offences including sexual exploitation, possession, and distribution of child abuse material.
Appeal Court Slams Lenient Sentence, Increases Jail Time
Solicitor General Alex Chalk QC MP referred Green’s case to the Court of Appeal, branding the original sentence “unduly lenient.” On 20 May, the court agreed and bumped Green’s jail term up to 3 years and 6 months.
“I referred this case because the original sentence did not adequately reflect the gravity of Green’s depraved offences. I am satisfied that today’s decision from the Court of Appeal demonstrates that those who sexually exploit children should expect robust punishment.” – Alex Chalk QC MP, Solicitor General
