Passenger Stabbed in Shocking Early Morning Roadside Attack in Herne Bay
A man has spoken out about the terrifying moment his mate was stabbed after a bizarre and violent road incident on a quiet Kent street. The drama kicked off just after 7am on Tuesday, May 3, when a white car collided with a tree stump on Stanley Road, Herne Bay.
‘Game of Chicken’ Ends in Stabbing
The driver, who asked to remain anonymous, revealed the chilling details. “We were driving down Stanley Road when a white car started coming at us like the driver was playing a game of chicken. Then it smashed into the tree stump, flipped on its side, and hit my BMW.”
After the crash, two men jumped out and raced off while a third, stumbling from the wreck, pulled out a knife. “My mate went after them and that’s when he got stabbed. There was so much blood, he was bleeding badly.”
Local Shock: ‘Didn’t Expect This in Herne Bay’
The driver, who’s lived in the area for a decade, admitted he was stunned this violent ordeal unfolded in what’s normally a peaceful town. “I’m so confused why this happened. You’d expect it in Hackney, not Herne Bay. I keep myself to myself and was just helping out a mate who was stuck at a garage.”
Police on Scene as Investigation Continues
Kent Police were called at 7.05am following reports of a two-car collision and subsequent assault. Emergency services including South East Coast Ambulance and Kent Fire and Rescue arrived promptly.
A man has been taken to a London hospital with stab wounds. Officers have closed a section of Stanley Road and an alleyway off Canterbury Road to carry out enquiries. A second police cordon remains on Douglas Road.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “An investigation is ongoing. We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact us on 01843 222289, quoting reference 03-0150.”
