Child Rapist Locked Up for Five Years After Shocking 20-Count Sexual Abuse Admission
Gregory Hayes, 33, from Ram Lane, Hothfield, has been slammed with a five-year jail sentence after admitting to 20 non-recent sexual offences. The vile predator abused a child between 2001 and 2005.
Victim’s Courage Brings Monster to Justice
In a brave move, the victim reported Hayes in 2015, sparking an investigation that led to his arrest. Hayes faced multiple charges including rape, sexual assault, and one count of indecency. His sentencing took place at 1 Crown Court on Wednesday, 9 May 2018.
Detective’s Tribute to Victim’s Strength
Detective Constable Gemma Keeley praised the victim’s courage, saying:
“The victim was understandably traumatised by what had happened, and I’d like to thank her for being brave in coming forward many years later. There is no doubt these violations will stay with her for a very long time.
Nobody should suffer like she has, and I hope other victims of this type of abuse have the confidence to come forward safe in the knowledge they will be treated with the utmost care and understanding.”
Justice Will Prevail
She added: “Rest assured that whilst investigations like this can be very long and complex, we will do everything we can to seek justice.”
