Teen Sentenced to Life for Brutal Lewisham Murder
Jackson Uwagboe, 19, was today handed a life sentence for the vicious stabbing murder of Robert Robinson in Lewisham. The Hamilton Street teen must serve a minimum of 21 years before he can even apply for parole.
12 Stabs in Deadly Midnight Attack
On June 6, 2024, just after 10.30pm, police rushed to Carteret Way where Robert Robinson was found with 12 stab wounds, including defensive injuries. Paramedics confirmed the 20-year-old died at the scene.
Earlier that day, Uwagboe had robbed a 17-year-old of his bike and phone on Deptford High Street. Robert was in a group trying to recover the stolen bike from the home of Uwagboe’s friend, Ryan Wedderburn. When no one answered, some in the group vandalised the Wedderburn family cars before leaving.
Gang of Three Armed with Machetes
Later that night, Uwagboe, Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris, 19, all armed with machetes, left the flat. They spotted Robert, a friend, and their mother on Carteret Way. As the group fled and the mother called 999 to report the robbery, Robert was chased down, overpowered, and fatally stabbed.
“Thanks to meticulous work — hundreds of hours of CCTV, phone data, bank records, and DNA analysis — we’ve held these offenders accountable.”
Forensic Evidence Cracks Case Wide Open
- DNA linked knives to Harris and Wedderburn
- CCTV footage tracked suspects’ movements
- Phone records uncovered key details of the escape plan
Justice has been served for Robert Robinson and his family. The killers now face decades behind bars for their barbaric crime.
