Fake Rich Drug Dealer and Partner Jailed in Surrey Bust
Social Media Show-Off Caught with Class A Drugs
A drug dealer who flashed fake wads of cash on social media has been locked up thanks to Surrey Police’s Operation Viking. Justin Bruney and Ricky Williams were nabbed on October 18, 2016, in Tadworth after officers stopped their Mercedes on Tattenham Way. A sock stuffed with wraps of Class A drugs was discovered hidden behind an interior light fitting, alongside a haul of cash.
Photos, Phones, and Lies Exposed
Phones seized from the pair revealed messages arranging drug deals and sneaky snaps of Bruney posing with stacks of cash and flashy watches. Bruney later admitted in a police interview that he faked the wealth by placing real £20 notes at the front and back of piles of blank paper for his photos.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston said: “This just goes to show that drug dealing is not a glamorous lifestyle even when criminals are trying to make you believe that it is – and no one likes a show off. It’s another success for our Operation Viking team who have now achieved jail sentences of more than 20 years since starting this campaign before Christmas. Bruney and Williams are now both behind bars which means the streets of Surrey are safer with two less dealers preying on vulnerable people.”
Sentenced for Drug Dealing
- Justin Bruney, 22, from Barking, and Ricky Williams, 30, from Croydon, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis and cocaine.
- Both appeared at Guildford Crown Court on May 25.
- Bruney was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in jail.
- Williams received 3 years and 6 months behind bars.
This crackdown marks a major victory for Operation Viking, which has been targeting cross-border drug dealers since last October. Surrey’s streets just got a lot safer.
