Maidstone Man Locked Up for 30 Years After Vicious Police Attack

Brutal Scissors Assault Leaves Officer Seriously Injured

Robert Jenner, a Maidstone resident, has been sentenced to a staggering 30 years behind bars after launching a ferocious attack on a police officer, leaving him with more than 20 injuries.

The chilling assault unfolded on the evening of 15 June 2023. Police rushed to Jenner’s flat in Albion Place responding to reports of indecent exposure at Mote Park. Officers found Jenner naked and barricaded inside, refusing entry behind furniture stacked against the door.

Once inside, Jenner fled into a dark room and unleashed a savage assault with scissors on a constable. The brutal attack lasted over 20 seconds, inflicting serious wounds to the officer’s head, face, neck, and limbs. The violent episode only ended when backup rushed in to restrain Jenner.

Convicted in Absentia – 30 Year Sentence Handed Down

Jenner denied attempted murder charges but was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court during a trial he refused to attend, repeatedly declining to leave his cell. On 4 February 2025, the judge handed down a hefty 30-year sentence, labelling Jenner “dangerous.” He must serve at least two-thirds of his term before parole and will face an extended five-year licence period after release.

Police Chief Brands Attack “Horrific” and “Unrepentant”

Chief Superintendent Neil Loudon slammed Jenner’s attack as one of the worst he’s seen:

“Jenner carried out a sustained and savage attack on a frontline officer dedicated to serving the community. This terrifying ordeal ended only when colleagues intervened.”

“He inflicted some of the worst injuries I have ever witnessed on a constable. Jenner has shown contempt for the law and remains unrepentant. He poses a serious threat and will spend a long time behind bars.”
