Kidbrooke Coppers Nab Suspected Drug Dealer on Stolen Moped
Police in Kidbrooke made a swift arrest after spotting a man acting shady near a Greenwich school—riding a stolen moped. The drama unfolded on January 16 when officers noticed the suspicious behaviour.
High-Speed Chase Ends in Bust
The officers tried to stop the rider, but he refused to comply. Upon checking, they discovered the moped was reported stolen. What followed was a tense pursuit—first by car, then on foot—until the suspect was finally caught.
They arrested a man believed to be linked to an organised crime group. A police search uncovered bags of cannabis, wraps of cocaine, cash, and a mobile phone.
Multiple Charges as Investigation Continues
The suspect faces charges ranging from drug offences and theft to driving violations and money laundering. Police have promised to return the stolen moped to its owner. The man was later released on bail as inquiries continue.
New SE London Police Team Scores Early Win
The arrest came just two hours after the launch of a fresh Metropolitan Police unit in southeast London, aimed at cracking down on local crime and snaring offenders.
Sergeant Wayne Robbens said, “We listened to local people’s concerns and launched this team so we could tackle the issues they are worried about. We all want to make south-east London safer, and this is just one step we’re taking.“
Borough Commander Trevor Lawry added, “We’re using all the intelligence and data to pinpoint trouble spots and rush officers there fast. We want south-east Londoners to see we’re acting on what matters to them. Our work to improve policing won’t stop.“
This new team is designed to carry out targeted operations, using precise intelligence to tackle crime in local communities head-on.
