Brighton Police Nab Man Over Botched ATM Heist in Hove

Attempted ATM Theft Sparks Early Morning Drama

Police in Brighton have charged a man after a dramatic failed attempt to steal a cash machine from Blatchington Road, Hove. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight on Friday, October 28.

An officer, who was taking a statement nearby, overheard a ruckus and quickly called for backup. Several suspects were caught trying to steal the ATM before fleeing the scene in a van.

Suspects Flee on Foot as Police Close In

Officers tracked down the suspects and found the van nearby. However, the thieves made a run for it on foot before being caught.

Reece Middleton, 29, from Holcroft Road, Southampton, was arrested and charged with attempted theft and possession of cannabis, a Class B drug.

Suspect Remanded, Investigation Ongoing

Middleton was remanded in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, October 29. He is set to appear again on November 28. Police continue their hunt for the other suspects involved in the botched heist.
