Bowling alley hostage horror ends as man charged after four-hour siege in Nuneaton
A 53-year-old man has been hit with multiple charges following a tense four-hour hostage stand-off at a bowling alley in Nuneaton.
Siege grips MFA Bowl
David Clarke, from Nuneaton, is accused of false imprisonment, criminal damage, and possession of imitation firearms and bladed weapons, Warwickshire Police confirmed. Armed cops swooped on MFA Bowl in Bermuda Park at around 2:30pm on Sunday after reports a gunman had taken two people hostage.
Hostages freed unharmed
The drama unfolded with up to 50 people inside the leisure centre. Thankfully, the two hostages were later released unharmed. Clarke has been remanded in custody and faces magistrates shortly.

- One count of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
- Two counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence
Clarke, who lives on Ryde Avenue, now faces serious legal battles after what police called a “dangerous and frightening” incident.
