Husband Charged with Murder After Wife Found Dead in Lewisham
A shocking murder charge has rocked Lewisham after a woman was found dead at her home over the weekend. Hai Van Nguyen, 41, has been charged with murdering his wife, 45-year-old Hien Thi Vu.
Man Charged and Remanded
Hai Van Nguyen from Hatfield Close, SE14, was formally charged on Monday, April 14. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court later today. His next court hearing date will be confirmed in due course.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
At 6:41am on Sunday, April 13, the London Ambulance Service alerted police to a seriously injured woman at Nguyen’s Hatfield Close address. Officers, backed by London’s Air Ambulance, arrived swiftly. Despite their efforts, Hien Vu was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly after, at 6:52am, Nguyen himself walked into Lewisham Police Station and was arrested before being charged with murder.
Investigation Ongoing
A post-mortem examination is planned to determine the exact cause of death. Specialist officers are now supporting the victim’s grieving family. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the investigation remains active but have withheld further details.
A police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Hatfield Close. The victim’s family has been informed and continues to receive support.”
