East London Man Charged with Terror Plot

A 27-year-old man has been charged with preparing terrorist acts, following a Met Police Counter Terrorism Command arrest.

Sahayb Aweys Munye Abu Held on Terrorism Charges

Sahayb Aweys Munye Abu, from east London, faces charges under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He was officially charged today, 23 July.

He remains in custody and is set to appear via video link at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, 24 July.

Four Arrested, Three Released

On 9 July, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, backed by East Midlands Counter Terrorism Policing, arrested four men in east London and Leicestershire under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Three other suspects were later released without charge, leaving Abu as the sole individual charged.
