A burglar targeting restaurants in the heart of the City of London has been locked up for 16 months. John O’Brian, 28, from Slough, broke into eateries around Leadenhall Market and Gracechurch Street, stealing personal belongings and bank cards, which he then used fraudulently.
Prison and City Ban for Serial Burglar
O’Brian’s spree was cut short with his conviction and a hefty jail term. Alongside the 16 months behind bars, he’s been slapped with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from setting foot anywhere in the City of London. The tough move aims to keep him far from future trouble and shield local businesses.
City Police Hit Back
A City of London Police spokesperson said:
“This sentencing reflects the serious impact of burglary on businesses and individuals. John O’Brian not only caused financial harm but also invaded the privacy of those affected. The Criminal Behaviour Order will ensure he cannot repeat these offences in the City for years to come.”
Community on Alert
Leadenhall Market and Gracechurch Street buzz with restaurants and shops — all rocked by O’Brian’s offending. The break-ins caused major disruption to staff and customers, shaking the area’s sense of safety.
Businesses and residents are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.
