Man Wanted for PC Sharon Beshenivsky Murder to Face Extradition Hearing in Pakistan
Ex-cop’s Killer on Trial Abroad
Piran Ditta Khan, 71, the man wanted over the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky, will appear in court in Pakistan on Monday, 9 November. The hearing will decide whether he will be extradited to the UK to face justice.
Arrested and In Custody
Khan was arrested in Pakistan back in January and has been held in custody ever since. Authorities have been working tirelessly to bring him back to the UK.
PC Beshenivsky’s Fatal Shooting
PC Sharon Beshenivsky was fatally shot while responding to a robbery at Universal Travel on Morley Street, bradford/" title="Bradford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bradford, on 18 November 2005. Her murder shocked the nation.
Police Determined to Secure Return
Detective Superintendent Mark Swift said:
“Khan is due in court fighting his extradition. We are working with our colleagues from the National Crime Agency and the Pakistani authorities to ensure his extradition is as quick as possible.”
