Partner Murder at Crawley Station Shocks Community

A man has been found guilty of murdering his partner, Stephanie Marie, at Crawley railway station. Jason Flore, 26, with no fixed address, was convicted today after a gripping two-and-a-half-week trial at Hove Crown Court.

Brutal Attack Caught on Witnesses’ Eyes

The horrific incident unfolded early on Sunday, 18 August 2024. At around 7:05 am, police were alerted to an argument between Flore and Stephanie in the station car park. Witnesses saw Flore acting aggressively, waving his hands at Stephanie, who was partly undressed, visibly shaken, and holding a knife.

Just minutes later, at 7:18 am, a 999 call reported Stephanie had been stabbed and was not breathing. The caller, later identified as Flore, shockingly told dispatchers he needed to catch a train.

A passerby spotted Flore leaving the scene with his dog, wearing a red jacket. She took photos as he walked away. Flore tried to board a bus but was refused travel. By then, he had removed his jacket but wore blood-stained joggers. He headed into the town centre as emergency crews rushed to the station.

Paramedics found Stephanie with a fatal stab wound to her chest. Despite desperate efforts, she was pronounced dead at 8:16 am.

Manhunt Ends With Arrest and Sentencing

Armed officers launched a search and caught Flore near Haslett Avenue East at 8 am, making his way to Three Bridges railway station. When confronted, he claimed, “She did it to herself.”

Flore was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, then charged with murder after Stephanie’s death.

On 20 February 2025, Flore was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Tribute to Stephanie from Senior Detective

“Stephanie was a young woman with her whole life ahead of her, stolen away by a controlling and coercive partner,” said Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn.

“She was a beloved daughter, sister, and mother. She loved sports, music—especially playing the guitar—and dreamed of becoming a hairdresser.”

“This verdict crowns countless hours of investigation and brings justice for Stephanie. Today, we remember her name—not his. I hope this brings some peace to those who loved her after such a terrible loss.”
