Double Tragedy in NW8: Two Found Dead with Fatal Neck Wounds
Police were called to an Ashbridge Street home at 9.30pm on Thursday, 19 August after welfare concerns. Inside, they found 45-year-old Sharon Pickles, dead at the scene.
Just hours later, at 2.15am on Friday, 20 August, officers rushed to nearby Jerome Crescent after reports of a stabbing. There they discovered 59-year-old Clinton Ashmore, also pronounced dead.
Linked Killings Spark Murder Investigation
Both deaths are linked, ruled by post-mortems to be caused by fatal incised wounds to the neck. Families of Sharon and Clinton have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Arrest Made After Hospital Injury
On Thursday afternoon, 26 August, police arrested a 49-year-old man at a London hospital on suspicion of murdering Sharon and Clinton. The suspect had non life-threatening injuries treated before being discharged and taken into custody on 27 August.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “This is a significant development in our investigation which I hope takes us a step closer to getting justice for the families of Sharon and Clinton.”
“I am aware that as a result of appeals for information issued by the police, there is more information in the public domain than there might ordinarily be.”
“A man has now been arrested and it is crucial that nothing is said or reported that could risk prejudicing any future court proceedings.”
“I would urge the public and the press to avoid speculating or sharing names or images related to this arrest or investigation.”
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Officers continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information about the events on 19 and 20 August to call 101 with reference 7227/19AUG.
