Police Hunt for Dashcam Footage in Murder Probe of Julia Found Dead in Snowdown

Detectives Seek Crucial Video Evidence

Kent and Essex Serious Crime detectives are desperate for dashcam footage from Aylesham streets between Tuesday 20 April and Tuesday 27 April 2021. They want footage from anyone driving along Adisham Road, Dorman Avenue North, Cooting Road, or Spinney Lane during that week.

This comes after 53-year-old Julia was found dead near Ackholt Wood, Snowdown, just before 4pm on Tuesday 27 April. Julia suffered fatal head injuries while walking her dog Toby.

Man Charged, But Police Still Need Your Help

A man from Aylesham has been charged with Julia’s murder and is set to stand trial on Monday 29 November 2021. But Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards insists the probe is far from over.

“Whilst a man has been charged, we still have a responsibility to complete all relevant lines of enquiry and encourage people to come forward with further information, no matter how small,” he said.

A reconstruction of Julia’s last movements sparked fresh calls. Police urge anyone who travelled down those Aylesham streets in the week before her death to check if they recorded any footage and hand it in pronto.

Massive Investigation Underway

  • Detectives have sifted through roughly 1,500 pieces of public info.
  • Police carried out house-to-house visits at nearly 2,000 homes.
  • Specialist teams scoured the crime scene and fields with fingertip searches.

Though door-to-door checks and search teams are scaling back, Kent Police promise ongoing support for the community.

Community Support Praised by Police

ACC Richards paid tribute to locals who offered food, drink, and use of community centres, as well as those who shared valuable tips.

“We are extremely grateful to the local community for their patience and understanding,” he said. “Their support has been a great source of strength to everyone working on this enquiry.”

Residents can still access support at local drop-in centres operated by partner agencies.
