Met Police Detective Charged with Perverting Justice
A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with perverting the course of justice. The case follows an investigation by the Met’s Anti-Corruption Command, led by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Detective Inspector Accused of Evidence Tampering
Detective Inspector Taylor Flanagan-Clark, part of the North West Local Investigations Team, stands accused of destroying evidence linked to another criminal case. The probe began after his colleagues raised concerns with the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
Charged and Remanded at Westminster Magistrates’ Court
DI Flanagan-Clark was formally charged in the early hours of Friday 22 August. He appeared the same day at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday 19 September at Southwark Crown Court.
Met Police Speak Out
“These are very serious allegations which will undoubtedly concern the community we serve and our staff,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who oversees policing in north west London. “My team has been working closely with the IOPC and the Anti-Corruption Command from the start of these matters. For now, it’s important we let proceedings continue and do not jeopardise the ongoing investigation.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that DI Flanagan-Clark has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
