Met Police Officer Fined for Assaulting Colleague in Bar Brawl
A serving Met Police officer, PC Daryl Marley, has been found guilty of assaulting a fellow officer during an off-duty night out in Westminster. The verdict came down on Monday, 18 September, at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Bar Fight Ends in Courtroom Conviction
The drama unfolded back in October 2022 when PC Marley, attached to the Central West Command Unit, got into a row at a bar and assaulted a male officer. Marley was arrested and charged following the incident.
He was slapped with a £500 fine, along with a £200 victim surcharge and £300 in court costs. However, a separate charge linked to using threatening or abusive language towards a female officer during the incident was dismissed by the judge.
Chief Superintendent Demands Accountability
“Police officers, whether on or off duty, must uphold the highest standards expected by the public. PC Marley’s actions fell short, and holding him accountable is essential,” said Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, head of the Central West Command Unit.
PC Marley remains suspended as misconduct proceedings prepare to kick off following the criminal case.
