Michael Chased, Stabbed, Left to Die

On the evening of 2 November 2017, Michael was attacked by a gang of up to six males. He suffered multiple stab wounds before being abandoned in the park. Emergency services arrived shortly after 7.20pm but despite officers’ efforts, Michael was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem later revealed he died from stab wounds to the chest and haemorrhage. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command launched an immediate murder investigation.

CCTV Captures Key Witness – Police Want to Talk

Now, officers have released fresh CCTV images showing a man with a backpack jogging away from Betts Park around the time of the murder. He is not a suspect but a vital potential witness.

“Michael was a much-loved young man with his whole life ahead of him before he was cruelly taken in such a violent way,” said Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Penney. “His family and friends miss him every day. We’re determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”

Police Appeal: Did You See or Hear Anything?

DCI Penney added: “We believe many people were in the park that evening. If you saw or heard anything, no matter how small, please come forward. Your information could be the missing piece of the puzzle.”

Anyone with information can call 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers. All tips will be treated in strict confidence.

Michael’s murder remains a heartbreaking mystery. Five years on, his family still seek justice. If you know something, act now.
