Vanished Without a Trace: Lisa’s Mysterious Disappearance in Spain

Lisa, 32, went missing on 4 November 2015. The last reported sighting was at her home in Guadiaro, San Roque, near the luxury resort of Sotogrande in Cádiz, Spain.

Originally from Alexandria, Dumbarton in Scotland, Lisa had relocated to Spain to start a new life. Alarm bells rang four days later when she failed to pick up her 8-year-old son from school.

A Violent Incident and a Fugitive Ex

Early signs pointed to a violent incident at her home before she vanished. Her ex-boyfriend, Simon Corner, was questioned but fled the country shortly after. Once released from custody, he disappeared from the marinas where he worked on yachts.

Spain’s Civil Guard launched extensive land and sea searches. Lisa’s home was sealed off for forensic teams, including DNA experts and Scotland’s Royal 1 Police, to investigate.

Manhunt and Arrests

Simon was finally arrested in Denmark in April 2016 and extradited back to Spain. Despite imprisonment, he was later released. Other locals have also been questioned and detained in connection with Lisa’s disappearance.

At the end of 2017, Simon broke bail conditions, prompting a European Arrest Warrant. Just a month later, he was arrested after landing at Heathrow Airport. Expectations mounted that he’d face trial for Lisa’s disappearance.

Case Closed—or Not?

Shockingly, days after his arrest, the case against Simon was dropped due to lack of evidence. He faced no charges despite being on the run for six months.

In October 2018, Lisa’s family got a glimmer of hope when the investigation was reopened. But disappointment followed as lawyers confirmed Simon would not be prosecuted.
