A 25-year-old has been locked up after threatening a man with a fake gun in a brazen robbery at a local country park.
Mockridge Threatens Victim in Broad Daylight
Connor Mockridge, of Studley Rise, Trowbridge, pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to intimidate. The crime happened on August 28 in Biss Meadows Country Park, where Mockridge approached a 20-year-old victim and forced him to hand over his bag at gunpoint.
Thankfully, the victim escaped unharmed and immediately called 999.
Quick Police Response Leads to Arrest
Firearms officers quickly located and arrested Mockridge. He was taken to Melksham custody for questioning before being charged and remanded.
Judge Slams Mockridge with Nearly Five-Year Sentence
On December 2, Swindon Crown Court sentenced Mockridge to four years and 10 months behind bars.
“This was a scary incident for the victim who fortunately was not injured and was able to contact the police quickly,” said Detective Inspector Tom Straker.
“From there, we deployed our firearms officers and Mockridge was safely detained and arrested. There is no place in Trowbridge for incidents like this, and we will continue to work hard to keep the town safe.”
This stiff sentence sends a clear message: Trowbridge won’t tolerate crime involving weapons—real or fake.
