Teen Gang Tied to Battersea Murder as Police Make Fresh Charges
Two More Teens Hit with Murder Charges
Police probing the brutal killing of 46-year-old Iderval da Silva in Battersea have charged two more teenagers. A 16-year-old lad was arrested and charged on Wednesday, 5 June. He faced Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the next day and is now remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 10 July.
The very next day, Thursday, 6 June, a 17-year-old male was also charged with murder. He is set to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 7 June.
Already in Custody: Jaden Richards and Two Teens
Jaden Richards, 19, from Strasburg Road, Wandsworth, was the first charged with murder. Arrested on Friday, 31 May, he appeared in court the following day and remains remanded at the Old Bailey.
Two other 16-year-olds linked to the case have also appeared in court. One was charged with murder and remanded in custody after his hearing on 4 June, while the third teen was arrested near the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm but later released pending further investigation.
Victim and Investigation Details
The victim, Brazilian national Iderval da Silva, was rushed to hospital after police found him with a severe head injury on Charlotte Despard Avenue, SW11, at 4.32pm on Saturday, 25 May. Sadly, he died in hospital on Tuesday, 28 May.
A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as a head injury.
