Gedling cops crack down on reckless drivers after public outcry

30 vehicles stopped, four seized in safety blitz

Gedling police have stepped up patrols in hot-spots like Colwick Industrial Estate following community concerns about dangerous driving. Since early October, officers have stopped 30 vehicles, handed out 22 pieces of advice, issued five warnings, and seized four cars in a bid to tackle road safety.

Inspector Stanley: “We won’t tolerate lawbreakers”

“My teams are targeting individuals whose antisocial behaviour is causing alarm or distress and impacting others,” said Inspector Mark Stanley, District Commander for Gedling. “We understand the community’s concerns and are running high-visibility patrols to educate and enforce. We will not hesitate to act to keep people safe.”

New policing priorities: cracking down on dangerous driving and drug supply

Stopping antisocial driving is just part of Gedling’s new policing focus. The force is also targeting the ‘fatal four’ driving offences:

  • Not wearing seatbelts
  • Drink driving
  • Speeding
  • Using hand-held mobiles while driving

Inspector Stanley added that December’s annual drink-drive campaign is underway. Plus, officers are intensifying efforts against illegal drug supply. “We’ll build intelligence to target dealers, raid premises, prosecute offenders, and offer support to users battling substance misuse,” he said.
