Kent Police Nab 419 Drunk and Drug Drivers Over Festive Period
Kent Police made a whopping 419 arrests between 1 December 2021 and 1 January 2022 for drink or drug driving — including those who refused tests. That’s out of 1,068 vehicles stopped during the crackdown.
Chief Inspector Sounds Warning
Chief Inspector Craig West, Head of Roads Policing, blasted the alarming figures: “More than a third of drivers stopped were in no fit condition to get behind the wheel. Drink and drug driving seriously wrecks judgement and causes serious collisions.”
“I urge people to think twice before driving under the influence. Your actions could cause life-changing injuries or worse,”
said West.
The Cost of Getting Caught
West also warned about the long-term fallout of a conviction: “You’ll likely get banned and have your case details published online, seen by employers, friends and family. It could stop you working and bar you from certain jobs. Ask yourself — is it worth the risk?”
Police Remain Vigilant Year-Round
Though the arrests came during a seasonal campaign, Kent Police vow safety checks will continue all year, backing future driver safety efforts and tough enforcement across the county’s roads.
