Inspector Hayley Crawford Targets Bassetlaw’s Biggest Crime Woes
Inspector Hayley Crawford has revamped her policing priorities after listening to local residents’ concerns. The new focus? Cracking down hard on drug supply and use, antisocial behaviour, and vehicle-related crime.
Top Priorities to Tackle Crime Head-On
From now until January, these will be the top issues on the agenda for Inspector Crawford and her neighbourhood policing teams. The changes come as officers have already made waves locally, including:
- Arresting a 23-year-old man suspected of burglary after a car theft from a driveway
- Joining up in a major operation tackling fuel thefts on the A1, leading to two burglary arrests
- Snaring a drug driver in a rural crime crackdown
Inspector Crawford Speaks Out: Fighting Crime and Protecting Communities
“These priorities are here for us to focus on and really crack down on those people committing these sorts of crimes – this is not to say other crime will be bypassed and forgotten about,” said Insp Crawford, Bassetlaw’s District Commander.
“Myself and my officers take every crime seriously and will continue doing everything in our power to bring criminals to justice. Antisocial behaviour is a huge concern for our communities, and we’re tackling it head-on with boosted patrols thanks to Safer Streets funding.”
Her team’s operations hit hotspots using sharp intelligence to shut down houses and premises used for illegal drug sales under “Operation Reacher”.
“Drug use and supply can wreck communities, so our teams are dedicated to stopping those breaking the law,” Insp Crawford added.
Vehicle Crime Crackdown Gets a Boost
Good news for motorists worried about theft and fuel crime:
“We’re focusing even more on vehicle-related crime like thefts of and from vehicles, fuel theft, and car key burglaries,” said Insp Crawford.
“We know vehicles aren’t just pride and joy—they’re essential for many people’s livelihoods. We’re stepping up patrols, collaborating with the council to offer free Faraday pouches, and working across borders to spot crime patterns.”
She urged victims to come forward no matter the crime type—“we’re here to help.”
