A ceramic plaque honoring a local tragedy was mysteriously snatched from the Miners’ Wheel memorial in the village Market Place between 6.30pm and 9pm on Monday, 16 May. Police have launched an urgent inquiry to crack the case and find out if any crimes were committed.
Police Appeal for Missing Plaque
Officers released a photo of the missing plaque and urged the community to come forward with any leads. Dover District Commander, Chief Inspector Daniel Carter, said:
“Local officers remain in the area as part of their ongoing engagement with the community. I thank residents for their continued support and encourage anyone with information about the plaque to get in touch.”
Context: Plaque Commemorates PCSO Julia James
The plaque was placed to remember PCSO Julia James, who was brutally murdered while walking her dog near Aylesham in April 2021. Callum Wheeler was found guilty of her murder earlier this week.
