Police Hunt Leads in Shocking Death of Elderly Woman Found Weeks Later in Tottenham

75-Year-Old Woman Discovered Dead in N17 Home

Detectives have launched a probe after the body of 75-year-old Pepita Sakirecili, also known as Pepita Garcia, was found at a residential property on Reynardson Road, Tottenham.

Officers forced entry following a welfare call raised by the London Ambulance Service on Monday, January 13. It’s believed Pepita died some time before Christmas, but the cause of death remains a mystery.

Man Charged with Preventing Lawful Burial

Dominic Whitton, 40, from the same street, has been charged with preventing a lawful burial. He is currently under investigation while police dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding Pepita’s death.

Police Plead for Witnesses and Crucial Footage

Detective Inspector Barry Hart of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Unit has urged anyone who knew Pepita to come forward. He said:

“Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Pepita’s death and we are appealing for information from anyone who knew her. We want to build a picture of what might have happened to Pepita.”

Officers are also seeking dashcam or mobile phone footage from Reynardson Road between October 16, 2024, and January 31, 2025.

They are especially keen to trace a taxi driver who transported Pepita home in August 2024. This driver reportedly grew concerned after seeing her struggle to carry building supplies and may have recorded her on their phone.

“We would like to speak with this taxi driver, who could hold vital information.”
