Seven Jailed for Sick Child Sex Abuse in Rotherham
Seven men have been locked up for a combined 106 years for sexually abusing two vulnerable girls in Rotherham during the 2000s.
Operation Stovewood: The Shocking Abuse Uncovered
The National Crime Agency’s Operation Stovewood uncovered these horrific crimes spanning from 2003 to 2008 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The victims were just 11 and 15 years old when the abuse began, both in care homes during the offending. The men, aged between 37 and 49, preyed on the girls using drugs, alcohol, and money to groom and exploit them.

The gang routinely picked up their victims in cars, giving them cigarettes, drugs, and cash before committing vile sexual offences including rape.
CPS and NCA Praise Victims’ Courage
“These seven men deliberately preyed on two young girls they knew were vulnerable and, using drugs and alcohol, exploited them for their own sexual gratification,” said Zoe Becker, Crown Prosecution Service.
Becker praised the victims for coming forward, helping bring the predators to justice. She added, “The cruelty and abuse the victims suffered was horrific and continues to impact their lives today.”
“I hope these convictions send a clear message that the CPS and law enforcement will relentlessly pursue justice and prosecute those who sexually exploit children,” Becker stated.
NCA Investigators Commend Justice Served
Senior Investigating Officer Stuart Cobb from the NCA described the defendants as “cruel and manipulative,” responsible for some of the worse offences uncovered by Operation Stovewood.
“What happened can never be undone, but the sentences handed down will give the victims some sense of justice,” Cobb said. “We will continue to support these brave victims going forward.”
One defendant, Abid Saddiq, was already serving 20 years for separate offences under the same operation.
Support Available for Victims
The CPS encourages anyone who has experienced similar abuse to come forward and report it to the police.
With complex cases like these, the CPS’ dedicated Organised Child Sexual Abuse Unit works to ensure offenders face justice and vulnerable children are protected.
