Oxford Man Jailed for Assault and Intimidation
Kojo Ritchie, 36, from Cowley, Oxford, has been sentenced to one year and 10 months behind bars. He pleaded guilty to assault, affray, and sending malicious communications at Oxford Crown Court.
Violence and Threatening Texts
The shocking events began on Friday, July 7, when the victim received threatening texts from Ritchie. Later that day, he physically assaulted her in Bullstake Close, Oxford, followed by more menacing messages sent to her phone.
Police Act Fast to Catch Offender
Police swung into action immediately after the complaint. Officers found and charged Ritchie the very next day, July 9. Throughout the investigation and court case, the victim received full support from the authorities.
Police Urge Victims to Speak Out
“We are fully committed to protecting victims and catching offenders, especially in crimes against women and girls,” said Detective Sergeant Matthew Richardson.
DS Richardson added that Thames Valley Police have specially trained officers to support victims. He urged anyone affected by similar crimes to step forward and contact police via the website, by calling 101, or visiting a station.
This case is a stark reminder: violent, threatening behaviour will not be tolerated. Reporting these crimes is vital for safety and justice.
