Pensioner’s Sat Nav Leads Police to Brothel and Cocaine Bust

A routine traffic stop turned into a shocking discovery for police last January when 69-year-old Dogan Salih was caught with cocaine wraps in his car boot. But it didn’t end there – his Sat Nav revealed the location of a brothel hidden on a quiet residential street.

Police Find Brothel Stocked with Sex Toys and More

Following the address from Salih’s Sat Nav, officers raided a two-bedroom flat on Albyn Road. Inside, they uncovered clear evidence of a brothel operation. Drawers were packed with sex toys, lubricants, toothbrushes, and wet wipes. Salih held the keys and was found to be managing the premises, prosecutor Andrew Dowden told the court.

Salih Pleads Guilty to Brothel Management and Drugs Charges

At Woolwich Crown Court on March 27, Salih admitted to running the brothel and possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply. A police raid on his Deptford home also revealed a large stash of cannabis, which Salih claimed was for someone else.

Salih’s barrister blamed his criminal behaviour on gambling and cocaine addiction, which also tore his family apart.

But Judge James Thacker KC wasn’t convinced. He described Salih’s remorse as “somewhat rehearsed” and criticised his lack of empathy for the exploitation of sex workers.

Suspended Prison Sentence and Curfew for Salih

Despite recognising the risks involved in the sex trade, Judge Thacker sentenced Salih to nine months in prison – suspended for 18 months due to overcrowding. He also slapped on a four-month electronically monitored curfew and warned Salih to stay out of trouble.

This case highlights the tough legal consequences faced by those caught up in exploitative and illegal activities.
