Teacher-Turned-Terror: Woman Attacked During Takeaway Delivery
Daniella Carter-Wells thought she was just collecting a late-night takeaway. Instead, she faced a nightmare of sexual assault at her own doorstep. On July 29, 2022, around 10pm, Mahbubar Rahman, a former private school teacher and co-owner of Royston Tandoori, forced his way into her home.
“He barged in, pushed me to the floor, dragged me into the bedroom, pinned me down and tore off my clothes,” Daniella recalled. “I just froze. I thought he was going to kill me.”
Close Call: Attack Only Ends When Neighbours Interrupt
The horrific ordeal lasted nearly half an hour before neighbours disturbed Rahman and forced him to flee. Witnesses saw him entering and leaving, which helped police track him down.
Despite clear evidence, Rahman denied all charges and was shockingly released on bail—a decision Daniella branded “disgusting.”
“They had to let him go by law, but I find that disgusting. It put me in danger,” she said. Daniella later came face-to-face with Rahman at a Tesco on Royston High Street, adding to her trauma.
Stalker Shock: Rahman Targeted Daniella Before Assault
Daniella revealed terrifying details of Rahman’s stalking in the weeks leading up to the attack. “I don’t know him — he’s a stranger — but he knew everything about me,” she said.
Justice Strikes: Rapist Teacher Sent to Prison
In a hard-hitting verdict, Rahman was found guilty at Peterborough Crown Court of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault last September. He was slammed with a five-year, nine-month prison sentence plus three years on licence.
This shocking case is a chilling reminder: danger can lurk even in the most ‘trusted’ places, behind closed doors.
