Man Jailed for Drugging and Sexually Assaulting Victim in London
A vile predator has been locked up after drugging, sexually assaulting, and robbing a man in Westminster.
Carol Simon, 45, a Romanian with no fixed address, was sentenced to eight years and five months at Isleworth Crown Court on April 22.
How the Attack Unfolded
On March 24, 2019, Simon was hanging around outside The City of Quebec pub on Old Quebec Street, Marble Arch. He approached a man in his 50s and asked to share a taxi home.
The victim agreed, but when they arrived at his flat, Simon invited himself in for a drink. That’s when he slipped a drug into the victim’s drink, sexually assaulted him, and made off with his wallet, watch, and phone.
DNA Snagged Simon – Police Acted Fast
The victim bravely reported the sickening attack. Police launched an investigation and matched Simon’s DNA to the crime.
Simon was arrested on April 4, 2019, back at the very pub where he first targeted the man. Officers found a small bottle of liquid Simon claimed were eye drops. Tests confirmed it was actually Diazepam, a sedative drug.
Simon was charged the next day.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
“The victim has been incredibly brave throughout this ordeal and it is because of his courage that Simon is behind bars where he belongs,” said Detective Constable Sophie McLoughlin.
“Simon had clearly set out that night to harm someone for his cowardly gain. His actions were completely evil and he will never know the trauma he has caused.
“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to come forward and speak to us, we will support you.”
