Shock Police Impersonation Scam Nets Over £23,000 in Just Three Days!

Scammers posing as police fraud officers have conned victims out of more than £23,000 across England in a terrifying three-day spree. The crooks convinced people their money was needed for a genuine police investigation – but it was all a sham.

Thankfully, police acted fast. At 2.49pm on Tuesday 30 September, a 19-year-old suspect was arrested. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Don’t Get Duped: How to Protect Yourself

  • Never hand over cash or valuables to couriers after any suspicious calls.
  • If someone claims to be a police officer over the phone, demand their ID and hang up immediately.
  • Wait five minutes, then call 123 and quote reference 30-0533 to verify and report the call.
