Former BRIT School Pupil Jailed for Far-Right Terror Content

A former Croydon BRIT School student has been locked up for nearly two years after being caught with extreme right-wing propaganda on his phone. Declan George-Candiani, 26, who claims to be a Satanist and says he made a pact with a “red-horned devil,” was sentenced to 23 months at the Old Bailey last week. He now faces an additional year on licence and a 10-year notification order.

Stopped at Stansted with Far-Right Terror Material

Counter-terror officers nabbed George-Candiani at Stansted Airport on August 13, 2024. A search uncovered a haul of extremist right-wing “manifestos” from notorious mass killers, detailed guides on lone-wolf attacks, and violent white supremacist literature. Police also seized an iPad from his Streatham home, which he shares with his mother.

George-Candiani admitted he was drawn to this material after developing an obsession with a far-right group linked to “traditional Satanism.”

Police Stress Importance of Border Powers

“Analysis of digital devices revealed downloads of horrific material promoted by extreme right-wing terrorist groups,” said Commander Dominic Murphy, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London. “This is why ‘Schedule 7’ powers at UK ports and borders are vital for catching potential terrorists.”

During police interviews, George-Candiani described a “possessed mindset” and claimed he made a “pact with the devil” to become a “minion.” He admitted to an “unhealthy obsession” that “overpowered” him.

Convicted on Terrorism Charges but Cleared on Others

On October 3, the jury found George-Candiani guilty on two counts of possessing material likely to be useful to terrorists under Section 58(1) of the Terrorism Act 2000. He was cleared of two other charges.
