Police are on the hunt for witnesses after a man suffered serious head injuries in a brutal bottle attack on one of Brighton’s busiest spots, Marine Parade.
Bottle Bash in Broad Daylight
The shocking assault went down just before 3pm on 5 October near a popular gym. The 40-year-old victim was strolling along the promenade when a man suddenly confronted him. Things quickly turned violent as the attacker smashed a glass bottle over the victim’s head, leaving him seriously hurt.
He was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Suspect Nabbed and Charged
Police arrested 36-year-old Sulayman Sarr, who has no fixed address, the same day. He now faces charges of grievous bodily harm and wounding with intent.
At his first court hearing on 8 October, Sarr was remanded in custody. He is due back in court on 11 November.
Police Plea: Witnesses Step Forward
Sussex Police are desperate for anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward. Cops say eyewitness accounts could crack the case wide open.
“We believe others were present during or near the assault and urge them to come forward. Their testimony could be key to progressing this case,” a police spokesperson said.
