South London Burglary Gang Busted and Jailed for 14 Years!
A ruthless seven-man crime gang behind more than 40 burglaries across South London has finally been locked up. The organised group received hefty sentences totalling 14 years at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday, 4 July.
Gang’s Burglar Spree Hits Affluent South London Areas
Between August and November 2018, this slick gang tore through wealthy neighbourhoods in Richmond, Twickenham, Merton and beyond. They carried out 47 garden-to-garage break-ins during the cover of night.
Targeting cars and handbags inside homes, they snatched keys then drove off in victims’ vehicles from nearby streets. The gang operated like clockwork, using stolen cars to zip between houses. They swapped number plates to dodge the cops, leaving hardly any forensic clues behind.
On one cheeky occasion, police caught them riding a stolen mobility scooter – a stunt that backfired spectacularly.
How Cops Cracked the Case
The Met’s Trident Proactive Team launched a four-month investigation after a spike in burglaries. Meticulously watching the suspects, officers linked the gang to 53 vehicle thefts worth around £200,000.
Following a massive swoop on 27 November 2018, key gang members were arrested across South West London. Officers found stolen cars with fake number plates and seized drugs and weapons during arrests.
More than ten stolen vehicles have been recovered so far as enquiries continue.

Police Speak Out on Gang’s Impact
“This gang terrorised residents in affluent parts of South London, stealing cars and valuables while people were asleep,” said Detective Sergeant Jonathan Payne.
“I hope these sentences bring victims some comfort and send a strong message that crime won’t be tolerated.”
“We’re committed to keeping London’s streets safe and putting career criminals behind bars.”
Residents can breathe easier now knowing this brazen burglary gang is finally off the streets.
