South East London Crime Wave: Car Thief, Drug Dealer & More Locked Up This September
A brutal car thief from Bexley, a Bromley drug dealer, and a scumbag Erith shoplifter are among ten offenders slammed behind bars this September in south east London. The list also includes a vandal who trashed the Lee Rigby memorial, a paedophile pastor, and a former Welling United footballer.
Notorious Offenders Banged Up
- Said Aitabbou, 25 from Charlton, trashed the Lee Rigby memorial in Woolwich in July. The 58-year-old war hero’s tribute was smashed, wreaths thrown, and flower pots wrecked. Aitabbou was caught on the spot and jailed for four months.
- Thomas Siggers, 30, a Sidcup-based car thief, exploited keyless entry tech to nick at least eight luxury rides across Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich — all while on an ankle tag. One stolen motor was even used in a Woolwich shooting. He copped a hefty 4 years 10 months.
- Kiernan Hughes-Mason, 32, ex-Welling United footballer, was sentenced to 14 years for violently attacking a two-year-old girl on New Year’s Eve 2020, causing life-changing brain injuries. The toddler was in an induced coma for 14 days.
- Neil Atkinson, 41, aka Neil Armstrong, stole over £1,400 of goods from shops in Deptford, Brockley, Honour Oak, and Lee. He now faces 38 weeks in prison for his spree.
- Aniekan Akpan, 47, a pastor near Old Kent Road, was convicted of abusing a girl from the age of 10. The Croydon man was sentenced to 15 years for his vile crimes.
- John Harris, 38, stole nearly £3,000 of goods from Boots in Greenwich shortly after release from jail. Harris was handed an extra 16 weeks after returning to crime.
- Jack Wesley, 35, a convicted sex offender who moved from Catford to Feltham, breached court orders and was jailed for ten weeks.
- Malik Hutchinson, 21, from Bromley, caught with cocaine, cannabis, and £3,000 cash tied to drug offences, was locked up for four years.
- Martin Jackson, 40, from Erith, stole over £14,100 in goods from shops despite a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from certain areas. He got three and a half years inside.
- Joel Victorious, 51, of Southwark, was jailed for life after attacking a woman with a hammer and knives in front of her children. The victim was found with life-threatening injuries in the street.
