Vagrant Burglar Caught After Raiding Homes Across Salisbury
Serial Burglar Nabbed After String of Daytime Raids
Mark Griffiths, 57, with no fixed address, has been locked up for four and a half years. He pleaded guilty to eight burglaries across the region during 2022, including two bold daytime raids in Wavell Road and Millbrook Road, both in Salisbury last October.
Targeted Homes While Owners Were Out Walking Dogs
Griffiths struck when homeowners left their houses to walk their dogs, swiping high-value items with ease.
Police Pin Griffiths to the Crime Through Forensics
On November 29, Wiltshire Police’s Fortitude Team caught Griffiths red-handed in Melksham after a burglary in Winchester. Investigations and forensic evidence linked him to the Millbrook Road break-in, where he was found by a returning homeowner.
Investigator Warns About Impact of Burglary
DC Mark Welch of the Fortitude Team said: “Burglary is one of the most impactful crimes on victims as it invades the privacy and sanctity of the home, a place where people should feel safest.”
“It can have a lasting impact and it is crucial that these offences are thoroughly investigated and offenders brought to justice. Griffiths was a serial burglar and often waited until he knew the owners were out of the house before entering. I’m pleased that he will now be behind bars.”
