A violent rampage erupted in Gravesend at the weekend, landing a man in court and leaving chaos behind.
Armed Police Storm Scene After Early Morning Disorder
Kent Police were scrambled to Gravesend town centre at 1am on Saturday, April 19, following reports of damage at a residential property.
Officers, including armed patrol units, found a van outside smashed up and the interior of the home trashed. Even a police car took a beating during the fracas.
A search turned up a blank-firing handgun and blank ammunition — sparking fears over the scale of the disturbance.
Shane Banks Charged With Multiple Offences
Shane Banks, 34, of East Terrace, Gravesend, was arrested at the scene. He faces three counts of criminal damage plus possession of an imitation firearm under the Firearms Act.
Banks appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 21, where he was remanded in custody. His next court date is set for Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, May 19.
Police Confirm No Injuries, Investigation Ongoing
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed no one was hurt during the ordeal. The probe is still underway.
