An 18-year-old man has been charged following a terrifying machete attack on Southend seafront last summer. On July 30, 2024, a group of youths brandished weapons, sparking chaos among families and holidaymakers enjoying the beach.

Police Move Fast, Arrest Eight Teens

Essex Police scrambled to the scene within minutes of receiving calls about armed individuals. In total, eight males aged between 14 and 18, including adults and teenagers, were arrested at the seafront.

Teenager Faces Serious Charges

Hamza Dinbil, 18, from Corporation Street, Stratford, has been charged with violent disorder and possession of a bladed article in public. He is one of ten suspects due to appear in court soon, facing multiple charges including violent disorder and weapons offences.

Community on Edge After Attack

The violent incident has left locals and visitors shaken. Many have demanded tougher safety measures along the popular Southend seafront. Police have since ramped up patrols to restore confidence.

“Our officers acted swiftly in response to the reports, and several arrests were made at the scene. We take incidents involving weapons extremely seriously and will continue to work diligently to keep the community safe,” said an Essex Police spokesperson.

Residents Demand Justice

Southend locals expressed relief over the arrests but remain concerned about youth violence. One resident said on social media: “It’s scary this happened where families and children come to enjoy the seaside. Hopefully, justice will be served.”
