Teenager Denies Fatal Punch That Killed Woman Outside Pub

Liam Moor, 19, pleaded not guilty to manslaughter at Newcastle Crown Court today. He stands accused of delivering a single punch that led to the death of 40-year-old Lisa Denton outside Charlie’s Bar in North Shields.

Deadly Pub Brawl: One Punch Kills

The tragic incident unfolded on the night of 24 January. Police rushed to the scene around 10pm after reports of a fight outside the North Tyneside pub. Lisa was found critically injured with a fatal head wound and died in hospital the next morning.

Prosecutor Clare Haswell told the court Moor struck Lisa “once to the face” before fleeing without helping or calling emergency services. The manslaughter trial is scheduled for 14 September.

Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to ‘Warm and Genuine’ Lisa

“Our family is devastated to share that our Lisa sadly passed away from the injuries she sustained… at Charlie’s, North Shields,” the family said.

They remembered Lisa as “deeply loved” with a “warm, genuine” personality full of life. Her dry humour and welcoming nature touched everyone who knew her.

Police Probe Continues Amid Arrest

A woman in her 50s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but remains on bail as police investigate. Her involvement remains unclear.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Atherton described Lisa’s death as “incredibly tragic” and urged the public to steer clear of speculation.

“With proceedings now active, we would ask the public avoid speculation, both online and in the community, and respect the ongoing legal process.”
