Teen Kian Moulton Named in Brutal Murder of 12-Year-Old Leo Ross
A 15-year-old schoolboy has been unmasked as the killer of 12-year-old Leo Ross in Birmingham. Kian Moulton, who was just 14 when he stabbed Leo to death, was handed a minimum 13-year jail term by Birmingham Crown Court after his anonymity was lifted.
Shocking Attacks on Child and Elderly Victims
In a chilling rampage, Moulton plunged a knife into Leo’s stomach as the boy walked home from school in January 2025. Before Leo’s tragic death, the teenager viciously assaulted three elderly women — two were left with serious injuries. Moulton admitted to murder and multiple assault charges.
Dark Motive and Courtroom Drama
Judge Mr Justice Choudhury KC revealed the sickening reason behind the attack: Moulton targeted Leo because he was smaller. After the stabbing, Moulton brazenly cycled through Trittiford Mill Park, warning locals about the attack. The judge described him as “a young man with formidable health problems,” though offered no details.
Long Jail Term Awaits Kian Moulton
The 13-year minimum sentence means Moulton won’t even be considered for parole until his late twenties. He will start his time in a youth facility before potential transfer to an adult prison. Future release depends on parole boards assessing his rehabilitation and risk.
“The defendant was aware of the consequences of his actions despite his health problems,” said Judge Choudhury.
The court’s decision to lift Moulton’s anonymity follows standard procedure for serious youth crimes once guilt and sentencing are confirmed.
